ABOUT ME

I am a senior studying mechanical engineering with a concentration in aerospace engineering at Northwestern University McCormick School of Engineering. This summer, I will be starting work as a Structures Engineer for Firefly Aerospace. Previously, I worked as a Structures Design Engineer at SpaceX to, design components for Starship and Super Heavy Booster. At Northwestern, I am the powertrain sub-team lead of the Northwestern University Baja engineering car team, designing and fabricating the powertrain system for the 2023 vehicle.

PROJECTS

ATMOSPHERIC REENTRY

Delivering a spacecraft safely to rest on the ground from orbital velocities over 7.8 km/s (17,500 mph) is a complex process.
In an independent study at Northwestern University, I researched atmospheric reentry and hypersonic flight. I developed my knowledge of the aerodynamic forces acting upon reentry vehicles and the decisions that must be made when designing them.

ROCKET ENGINE FLOW STUDY

The RD-170 engine is the most powerful liquid fuel rocket engine ever produced. As a project for an Aerodynamics and Propulsion class I modeled the converging-diverging supersonic flow through the RD-170 nozzle and compared the results to the expected behavior.

BAJA POWERTRAIN SYSTEM 2022

I designed the powertrain system architecture and led powertrain sub-team for the 2022 Vehicle. I managed the design, manufacture, and integration of all sub-system components. The powertrain suffered zero failures during our 4-hour endurance race.

BAJA BRAKING SYSTEM

I designed and assembled the braking system for the NU Baja 2021 vehicle. I used SolidWorks to design the rotors and ran FEA simulations to validate the design.

RORORAIL

Worked with other Northwestern Students to develop a system for transferring freight between rail and truck for our client, Payson Wild. Our system is capable of transferring cargo quickly and efficiently between truck trailers and train containers without gantry cranes or heavy machinery.

LEG LOOPS

Collaborated with other Northwestern engineering students to conceptualize, design, and prototype leg loops to assist patients with limited lower body mobility at the Shirley Ryan Ability Lab.
