ROTOR DESIGN

I designed the brake rotors using SolidWorks. I improved upon previous years designs by reducing weight, manufacturability, and optimizing the hole pattern for clearing mud and debris.

FEA SIMULATIONS

To ensure the rotors would not fail under operating conditions I simulated heavy braking loads using SolidWorks finite element analysis simulations. The maximum stress simulated to be well under the yield strength of the material, validating the design.

SYSTEM DESIGN

The rotors are only a small portion of the braking system. The rest of the project consisted of choosing brake calipers, cylinders, reservoirs, fittings, and many other components to all function together. properly.
